Crisis Advocate and Counselor

The Violence Intervention and Prevention Department is seeking a full-time Crisis Advocate and Counselor. The Crisis Advocate and Counselor will provide individual and group crisis counseling and counseling for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. The Crisis Advocate and Counselor will also provide support groups in local drug and alcohol facilities. This is an evening, Tuesday-Saturday position. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently, utilize sound judgment, respond to crisis situations in a professional manner, and balance numerous priorities and tasks at one time. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience in crisis intervention is a plus. Bachelor's degree in human services or related field and prior related work experience required. Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving history, reliable transportation and proof of insurance. FBI, criminal and child abuse clearances also required (or the ability to obtain).
