Program Driver

Position Summary:
This role acts as a driver (transporter) for all participants involved in the Strength Based Skill Building (SBSB) Program. The SBSB program runs from 3pm to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The exclusive focus of this position is to safely transport participants (via 12-15 passenger van) to and from the SBSB program facility. Work is performed under the direction and guidance of the SBSB Program Director and BMP Executive Director/Program Supervisor.


Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Drives a program-issued 12 passenger van to pick up participants at designated locations at designated times. Locations to include: schools and other daytime programming facilities.
Picks up participants after programming at the SBSB program facility and returns them safely to their homes.
Converses with program participants during transportation trips.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to safely drive a 12 passenger van, including adverse weather conditions.
Ability to adhere to a strict time schedule of pick-up and drop-off.
Ability to communicate via cell phone with program director, school officials, participant families, program supervisor.
Ability to communicate with passengers while driving.
Ability to understand and follow a GPS system for locating pick-up/drop-off locations.
Ability to clean and maintain the 12 passenger van in appropriate condition.
Ability to safely park and store the 12 passenger van at a predesignated drop-off location.


Education, Training and Experience:
High School Degree
Clean PA State Driving Record (no violations, accidents, or other driving infractions)
Ability to successfully complete/pass background checks and child abuse clearances as required by PA law
1-3 years experience driving/transporting middle school and/or high school age children
1-3 years experience working with at-risk teens (preferred)

Licenses/Certifications:
Valid PA State Drivers License

Environmental Conditions:
Driving a 12 passenger van around Lancaster County, including in adverse weather conditions

Salary:
$10/hr, not to exceed 12 hrs/week or $6240/year
No benefits

Comments:
This position will spend a significant amount of time in the vehicle with program participants. For this reason, it is important that the driver maintains a clear line of communication with other program staff to report any pertinent information discussed during transportation.
Works alongside SBSB Program Instructor and SBSB Program Director
Occasional dialogue with school officials or participant families in order to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times
